What is the PTO?
LB Muir TK-8 Academy PTO, also known as Muirlb PTO or John Muir TK-8 Academy PTO, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit parent teacher organization dedicated to making Muir shine—enhancing learning, connecting families and the school, and strengthening our community through volunteer support and fundraising.
All funds raised directly benefit our students by supporting field trips, social events, and numerous fun activities for students and their families. Take a closer look at the “Programs Funded” section to see all of our efforts.

Fundraising for students: Pays for classroom supplies, technology, library books, or enrichment programs that may not fit within the school budget.
Supporting teachers: Provides teachers with additional classroom materials, appreciation events, grants, or financial support for special projects.
Improving the school environment: Helps fund playground equipment, outdoor learning spaces, school gardens, murals, or beautification projects.
Building community: Organizes family nights, cultural celebrations, festivals, book fairs, and other events that bring families, teachers, and students together.
Supporting student experiences: Sponsors assemblies, guest speakers, and other enrichment opportunities.
Helping families: Coordinates clothing drives, school supply donations, and other resources for families in need of support.
Creating a stronger parent voice: Gives parents a structured way to share ideas, concerns, and feedback with school leadership.
Recognizing school staff: Organizes Staff Appreciation Week, provides meals or treats, and celebrates teachers and staff for their contributions.
Responding to immediate needs: When something unexpected comes up—such as replacing damaged equipment or supporting a student event—the PTO can often provide funding quickly.
Connecting the community: Builds partnerships with local businesses and organizations to bring additional resources and opportunities to students.
